Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the Syle: Announcement Banner app ("the App," "we," "us," or "our"), operated by Pordix Limited, collects, uses, and shares information when a merchant installs the App on their Shopify store ("Merchant," "you") and when the App is displayed to visitors of the Merchant's storefront ("Customers," "visitors").

We built the App to help Shopify merchants display customizable announcement bars on their storefronts. This policy explains what data is involved in that process and how it is handled.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information collected from Merchants

When you install and configure the App in your Shopify admin, we collect and store:

• Shop information: your myshopify.com domain, used to identify your store and associate it with your settings.
• App configuration: the announcement bar settings you create, including message text, colors, typography, scheduling dates, page-targeting rules, CTA links, and rotating messages.
• Billing and subscription status: whether you are on the Free or Pro plan, and your subscription status, obtained through Shopify's Billing API. We do not collect or store payment card details — all payment processing is handled directly by Shopify.

1.2 Information collected from storefront visitors

To render the announcement bar and (on the Pro plan) provide analytics to Merchants, the App may collect:

• Country/region: derived from Shopify's storefront localization data, used only if the Merchant has enabled geo-targeting, to determine whether the bar should be shown to a visitor in a particular country.
• Anonymous usage events (Pro plan only): when the announcement bar is shown or clicked, we record an anonymous impression or click event, used solely to generate aggregate analytics (e.g. total impressions, total clicks) for the Merchant. These events are not tied to any personally identifiable information.
• A dismissal cookie: if the Merchant enables "remember dismissal," a cookie is set in the visitor's browser to remember that they closed the bar, so it is not shown again for a set period. This cookie does not identify the visitor personally.

We do not collect visitor names, email addresses, physical addresses, order history, or payment information through the App.

2. How We Use Information

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade Merchant or visitor data. We do not share data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Data is shared only with:

• Shopify Inc., as required to operate the App within the Shopify platform (e.g. authentication, billing).
• Service providers who host our database and application infrastructure, solely to provide the App's functionality, and who are bound by confidentiality obligations.

We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the App, our Merchants, or others.

4. Data Retention

We retain Merchant configuration data for as long as the App remains installed on your store. If you uninstall the App, your settings and associated analytics data are deleted from our systems within a reasonable period, in line with Shopify's app uninstall requirements. Anonymous impression/click events are retained only in aggregate form for reporting purposes and are not individually identifiable.

5. Cookies

The App may set a single cookie on the storefront (announcement_bar_dismissed) only if the Merchant enables the "remember dismissal" feature. This cookie stores no personal data — it simply marks that a visitor closed the bar, and expires automatically after the duration configured by the Merchant.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of your data. Merchants can request deletion of their store's data by uninstalling the App or by contacting us directly (see below). Shopify also provides mandatory GDPR webhooks (customer data request, customer redact, shop redact) which the App supports in accordance with Shopify's requirements.

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures, including encrypted (TLS/SSL) data transmission and access-controlled infrastructure, to protect the information we store.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is intended for use by Shopify Merchants and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
